How long have The Dead Betas known each other for?
“We’ve known each other for a varied amount of time, Bong Smell and Monsters were in rival school bands, Monsters and Sugarboi met through parties, we’ve known Kazraine forever and we met Martron at Uni. We met at parties. Which is why we made a party band.”
Who is the sensible one and who loves to be the joker?
“We are all ridiculous. Monsters plays mother on tour, but get a drink in him and we’re a party of chaos!”
You’ve just released Siren. How long did the E.P. take to put together and who had most impact on it?
“We co-write everything but Martron produces us so probably has most influence on the finished product. All we have to say about it is that mermaids are dicks.”
If you could play at a festival which one would it be and why?
“Reading and Leeds for sure! We’ve gone for years as punters, crew and drivers for other bands, blagged the odd guest list and we just love that festival, perhaps one day we’ll be cool enough to play!”
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you or the band?
“We are still yet to be embarrassed, if it all goes tits up we turn it into party time!”
You’ve played with some well know bands such as MSI and most recently The Birthday Massacre. What was it like to do that?
“It was awesome! I mean, if me (Monsters) now, could go back and tell my 14 year old self we’ve done these things, 14 year old me would have called the police and ran away. I was always told don’t talk to strangers.”

Bong Smell – “Greg mate”
What is your favourite and least favourite thing about touring?
“Favourite is the fun, meeting other bands and new friends. Least favourite is waiting… So much waiting!”
After a gig how do you like to unwind?
“If we told you they’d issue a warrant for our arrest. And Jenga.”
What do you have coming up in the next few months?
“We are planning a short run of dates for late July, and we’re focusing heavily on our first album. We’re going to hide in the Beta Cave for months and come out with our ugly love child of an album.”
